AAA Calvert was born in 1966 as AAA Electrical Enterprises, created by Tom Sullivan, son of an electrical contractor. In 1983 Tom bought out a small, but well-established heating and air conditioning business, founded in 1963 by Lawton Calvert, hence the name AAA Calvert. Once they moved the business out of the house on Clark Avenue in Long Beach and into an office on Palm Drive in Signal Hill, it was truly a mom and pop shop with Tom's wife Pat running the day to day office duties.

Tom Sullivan, Jr., working part-time since the age of 12, became a full-time member of the business in 1980, while completing electrical trade school classes at Long Beach City College to further learn his trade. When Tom, Sr. purchased Calvert Heating and Air Conditioning, T.J., as he was to be known, went back to trade school to learn the HVAC trade.

Though a few employees came and went, one thing remained constant - Tom, Pat & T.J., and when it was time for Tom to hang up his tools in 2005, T.J. and his wife, Lauri, purchased the business and have continued on with the three generations of Sullivans as electrical contractors.

Cooling your home during the summer will certainly impact your utility bill.
Now, when the temperature hits 90 degrees, you're not thinking about the cost so much - you just want your equipment to perform when you need it.
We can help by performing preventative maintenance on your system to improve efficiency and lessen the impact on your utility bill, not to mention taking steps to help prevent a breakdown in the middle of a heat wave.
A standard residential split system consists of a gas furnace and evaporator coil (typically installed in your attic, an interior closet, basement or garage), with refrigerant lines running from the coil to an outdoor condensing unit and ductwork installed to return grill, filtration system and supply registers throughout your home.
Fortunately here in Southern California, we have a mild climate, but it still gets cold enough during the winter to make heating your home a necessity.
Usually located in your attic, a closet, basement or garage, a forced air gas furnace provides uniform heating throughout your home, with ductwork running from the furnace to supply registers in each room and a centrally located thermostat to regulate the temperature.
A return grill with a filtration system completes your indoor comfort system.
In regard to maintenance, the most important task is replacing your filter regularly, but for more information on caring for your equipment, take a look at this maintenance checklist from the Energy Star Website.
When air passes over the iWave, ions produced by the device reduce pathogens, allergens, particles, smoke and odors in the air, creating a healthy environment without producing any harmful byproducts.
When these ions are injected into the air stream and the breathable air space, they break down passing pollutants and gases into harmless compounds like oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen and water vapor.
The illustration below demonstrates this process.
When the ions come in contact with viruses, bacteria or mold, their reaction decomposes surface proteins of these pathogens, thereby inhibiting their activity.
If your electrical service is old and the circuit breakers are sticky & won't reset, there's no room to add circuits or if you need additional amperage, it's time to upgrade.
Flush or surface-mounted electrical service installation costs range from $1700-$3500, depending on amperage and location approval from local utility company.
Demand is growing for electrical vehicle chargers.
We've installed many, including charging stations and 240V receptacles for tesla and other electric vehicles.
Ceiling fan replacement or a new installation - on a wall switch or with remote operation - provides an inexpensive way to move air throughout your home without air conditioning or improve the efficiency of your HVAC system.
